Service is an easy word to say…
But so much harder to deliver.
What does it mean?
For us, it definitely does NOT mean being all things to EVERYONE or underwriting everything that hits our desk!
So, what DOES it mean for us?
It’s about being straightforward: we like something – we let you know. Don’t like something – we let you know even quicker! We’re not sure – well, we’ll communicate that too and what we need to decide!
It’s about communicating good things well and difficult things even better!
It’s identifying quickly what is important to customers, suppliers and stakeholders and responding to them.
It’s about dealing with problems or misunderstandings head on and working collaboratively to iron them out.
It’s celebrating and acknowledging good results inside out!
It’s being consistent and persistent even when you may not feel like it or have other distractions.
It’s recognising our own imperfections, learning from our mistakes and using feedback to improve rather than taking it personally.
I guess that’s why I chose the name “Custodian” for the business.
In a sense, we are custodians for our insureds, brokers, and insurers.
They are all trusting us with something and it’s our job to deliver it.
